New Pets and Lots of Fun Outside

If only Eliyana and Caleb played this well together all the time! They were riding the same tricycle around our patio.

About a month ago when Josh picked up the bedding for our bunny's litter box at a feed store, Eliyana fell in love with the baby chicks. She begged for a baby chick as a pet. I (Heidi) wasn't too interested in having a chicken run around in my backyard so we told her no. Well this week I had to go to the feedstore for the bunny's food. I don't know what came over me, but somehow we came home with a baby chick.

I thought about getting 2 right away, but Caleb didn't seem too interested at first so we only came home with 1. By that evening all he wanted to do was hold Eliyana's chick (now named Sparkles). You can only imagine the conflict over sharing the chick. What was I thinking to only get bring home 1 chick?

So back to the feed store the next day to get Caleb his own chick. His chick is named "chicky", at least for now. He loves to hold it and carry it around the yard in a bucket. He puts it in the scooter basket and rides around the patio with it. Surprisingly the chicks seem to like the kids and will even follow them. And they chirp loudly for attention when put away in their box.

Gideon enjoys watching his big sister and brother. He likes sitting in his walker on the patio. He doesn't "walk" yet, but he has a good view of all the excitement from that position. #1 and #2 sure entertain #3!

Pictures from April

The weeks continue to fly by. Gideon passed 5 months old a couple weeks ago. He is interacting more with toys, everything goes into his mouth, he's learning to drink from a sippy cup and he's close to rolling from back to front. His best discovery this past week was his feet. He loves to play with them.

Caleb still adores his little brother. He can be so tender to him one minute and then treats him like a toy the next. We have to convince Caleb that Gideon is too little to wrestle.
We had a Dutch Festival at Eliyana's school this weekend. The kids had so much fun with all the games, bounce house, pony rides and petting zoo. Eliyana is convinced we can fit a pony in our backyard. I wonder where she gets that from . . . definitely not her mother?!

Milestone for Eliyana

Eliyana has been looking forward to this day for months . . . losing her first tooth. It may seem insignificant, but when all your classmates have already lost 1 or 2 teeth it could seem you are missing out on something. Eliyana is one of the youngest in her class (August B-day). She was so excited when a tooth really became loose a few weeks ago (She had very hopefully and with some imagination thought she had a loose tooth a few times before that). The pure joy on her face when Josh pulled the dangling tooth out this afternoon was something we'll remember forever.

Gideon Rolling Over

It took a couple weeks to get around to capturing it on video, but here is Gideon's newest skill . . . rolling over. It's pretty exciting for us parents, even with the 3rd!

Natural History Museum

Every Tuesday there are some museums free in San Diego. This week, the kids and I went to the San Diego Natural History and Railroad Museums with Josh's sister (Heidi) and her children Josiah and Hannah. The kids had a great time.
