New Pictures

Sorry, I've not been very good at keeping up with my blog lately. It took me a couple weeks to get settled back into the swing of things after my return from Korea. Now things seem to be "normal" again. We're looking forward to the end of the school year, both for the kids and Josh. Here are some pictures from the past few weeks:

At a reptile birthday party. Eliyana loved all the snakes, lizards, turtles and frogs.

This past weekend I took the kids to the zoo. A neighbor girl who is friends with Eliyana came along too. It was a beautiful day in San Diego and the zoo was packed. But we still had a good time.

Last week Matthew asked if we could make a Nigerian stew. So between how he described how it should be made and what I could find on the Internet, we decided to make Okra soup. I had a tough time finding fresh Okra's, but 4 stores later I came home with what we needed, except for the Red Palm Oil (we used canola oil instead). His Kenyan friend from the seminary also came over and helped us cook the soup. We also made a corn flour mush which is a staple in Nigeria and Kenya and eaten with your hands along with the stew. It all turned out very good. The kids even ate it, though I think they were more excited to eat with their hands than anything else.

Matthew had a birthday while I was in Korea. Josh, his dad and the kids celebrated with a cake and gift. He is counting down the days until he can return to his family in Nigeria after he graduates from Westminster Seminary this May.

Back from Korea

I returned from my business trip to Korea on Wednesday. It was a very good experience and I'm glad I had the opportunity to go. The trip was 3 days longer than planned, but all in all the time went by quickly. It was good to return home to my family after being away for 2 weeks. Josh did very well with the children with his parents help. He even vacuumed once while I was gone! He managed to get to church before the sermon began, too! I heard the kids looked dressed OK also while I was gone. So here are some pictures from my trip:

A Korean Folk Village which we toured in Seoul - Namsangol Hanok Village

A chicken soup lunch we ate. It was a whole chicken in a Ginseng broth.

A Korean BBQ Dinner

Our Sushi dinner. So much food!

I'm not a big fan of Sushi, but I did try all of it.

I went to church with some friends from Escondido (Westminster). Julius is a NT professor at the seminary and is spending his sabbatical in Korea.

A palace we visited in Seoul - Gyeong Bok Gung Palace

Inside the palace

The king's bedroom inside his house in the palace

The sightseeing group - 2 of our Korean colleagues showed us around Seoul on our day off

Inside a local marketplace in Seoul

The local marketplace. The shopping was fun.

The real reason for my trip. To start-up a distillation system we built and installed in our Korean plant.

It was fun to come home and give the kids their gifts from my trip. I got them all a set of Korean/Oriental clothing/PJ's. Here they are showing off their clothes. Caleb and Eliyana wanted to wear them to school.
