Fire Storm 2007

Wow, what a week! We were evacuated from our neighborhood on Monday afternoon. We weren't expecting that. After discussing earlier if we should prepare for an evacuation, we decided we were most likely safe in our neighborhood. The cops came through with sirens and loudspeakers and told us to move out quickly. We spent 3 nights in Tierrasanta at the Verbrugge's house. When we got home on Thursday morning we found a big mess outside our home. Lots of ash and debris. It will be a cleanup weekend for us! One house in our neighborhood was destroyed by the fires. It seemed very random and was at least 1 mile from the fire's front line. It's amazing how far the wind can carry an ember.

Big Sister reading to her Little Brother

Eliyana loves to read books to Caleb, and Caleb loves it when she does. They get along well together most of the time. We'll see how a 3rd changes the dynamics at home!

Getting Eliyana ready for School

Josh has the privilege of getting Eliyana ready for school 2 of the 3 school days each week. One of those days was her picture day at school. Mom stressed about it, however he did a great job as you can see from her school picture!

Then there was the field trip day a couple weeks ago . . . a trip to Bates Nut Farm where the kids got to pick out their own pumpkin and bring it home. Later that night, Mom noticed that Eliyana's pants looked a little odd. Capri's don't typically have a carpenter jeans style. When we looked they were Caleb's jeans! She had been in Caleb's jeans all day. Here's a nice picture of the pumpkin she and Dad carved along with her stylish carpenter jeans Capri's (before we discovered the mistake)! Now Josh thinks he has a good excuse to not put away the laundry!

Some fun pictures from October

Just some fun pictures of the kids from October.
Heidi is 37 weeks pregnant and now "in the window". The kids are excited for Baby Gideon to be born. Caleb keeps saying Gideon is stuck in Mom's belly and needs to come out!

Caleb Turns 3

Being 7 months pregnant Mom was thinking of not having a party for him this year. But after seeing Eliyana's Birthday party in August, Caleb couldn't stop talking about his birthday party and the cake and the candles and pinata he would have! We never thought a 3 year old could be so opinionated about a birthday party! It ended up being a really nice party, except for losing electricity (black out) and being one of the hottest days of summer!

Eliyana Turns 5

Our little girl turns 5 on August 9. She enjoyed a small birthday party and as we also celebrated Josh's return from Jordan.

She had a Care Bear rings birthday cake.

And a homemade Care Bear Pinata. What was mom thinking?!

A Visit from Karl and Heidi Yoder

August 2007 - We had a wonderful last minute visit from Heidi's brother and sister-in-law from Texas, along with their 3 beautiful kids. What fun we had! The cousins enjoyed playing together and it was a joy to watch them interact. Thanks for visiting. Come again anytime!
